WHAT'S THE REAL STORY?

The Bangkok Post reported yesterday that housing sales fell around 10 per cent during the first six months of the year compared to the same period last year. That might well be true but my own experiences don't back that claim up.
There are two new developments within half a mile of my condo; one began construction around four months ago with a completion date late next year, and the other is still a patch of waste ground with completion estimated in 2009. Both are fully sold.
These are condominiums in the 1.7million - 5.5 million baht price range and are located in a pretty good location. A new skytrain link, which should complete within three years, will be within a few hundred yards of both developments.
The old adage location, location, location is important, as is price. If, as a developer, you have a decent location at the right price then you'll have few problems selling.
