THEY TALK TOO FAST

Two American girls started talking to me last night on the subway, and I had to ask them to slow down because they were talking too fast!
Perhaps being immersed in the Thai culture and language means I am losing some of my English language abilities? The only regular exposure I get to English is with BBC World, CNN and The Simpsons, with an occasional morning dose of Big Strong Boys thrown in. That's not good and it's one way; it's not as if I can have a conversation with Homer.
One of the Americans said she'd been here for a year, and when I said I was in publishing she asked a couple of pretty good questions about magazines that I could answer with authority. She was impressed - and then they both got off at the next station.
