BANGKOK DANGEROUS - FOR REAL

The Daily Telegraph in the UK published a story last Friday that's sure to do wonders for Thailand's already ailing tourism prospects for 2009 and beyond.
The report, called 'Twenty of the World's Most Dangerous Places', lists Thailand alongside Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Sudan, Colombia, Haiti and Eritrea.
Is it really that bad? If that's the impression the world has of Thailand right now then it will not be too long before Embassies start telling all resident citizens to make arrangements to leave.

Thankfully we're a long way from that happening, but this report is a snapshot of how the world is fearing what's happening here right now.

  1. Interesing. Telegraph article is highly misleading (quelle surprise). Bangkok isn't dangerous, it's just not a great place for tourists right now.

With travallers beginning to leave Suvarnabhumi, I worry that the situation may become sustainable in the medium term, unless we see someone step in, although of course everyone is reluctant too.
