BUT IS IT ART ?

Here is a question for you? This is a photo I took last weekend at Tanya's home. It is the place where her mother always sits. I think it shows a lot of character wheras Tanya says 'it's just messy'. What do you think? Do you see it as art in any way, or do you agree with Tanya and think it's nothing more than a snapshot?
It reminds me a little of an exhibition I saw at South Hill Park in Bracknell a few years ago featuring the work of a Japanese photographer who focused on capturing the essense of people and life by what they leave behind. There were shots of empty rooms showing the stains from life that once took place there, and there was a shot of a bed - unmade and recently slept in.
All these show traces of life without actually showing people in the images. I guess, in a way, that is what I have tried to convey here but that's for you to judge.
