FINALLY, I HAVE STAFF
From today I will have the services of two staff working for BusinessWeek Thailand. Both are already working here and will be helping me for around 50 per cent of their time. This will increase during the next couple of weeks, during which time we will employ people to take over their current duties.
These were the only two people from our current staff who expressed a desire to work on the new title. In a way it doesn't surprise me and underlines my belief that many Thai people have no desire to better themselves or do anything more than is required at work.
To start with they will be doing anything and everything, but eventually one will be a reporter and one will be in charge of PR. Both are extremely good writers, but the one I have chosen for PR does not really have the business journalism experience at the moment. What she does have is a great understanding of the need for proactive public relations - and that is something that a lot of people, including my boss, don't really have.
My boss has changed his view in recent weeks though - because he saw the great benefit we had from a simple press release about the launch of BusinessWeek Thailand. That involved very little effort and time but had great exposure for the brand and our company in general. He now understands what a difference PR can make.
