LABOR DAY, TEMPLE FAIR

Today's been a public holiday in Thailand (Labor Day) and we have another one (Coronation Day) on Monday. At the same time there's a temple fair at the temple right next to my condo, and since early this morning there's been some kind of lion dancing competition and celebration. Even as I am writing this (6.50pm) the drums of the lion dancing teams - of which there are eight taking part - are beating loudly and will likely be for the next few hours.
The good thing about temple fairs - and this one will last about a week - it that the whole street is full of even more food stalls. The bad thing is that music and dancing goes on way into the night, and way past my bedtime ! Temples fairs at my temple only happen twice a year so I am not complaining. It's part of life living in Thailand.
There's one food stall that I am really looking forward to sampling. It's selling deep fried insects and I am going to do a taste test this weekend - just so loyal readers of The Bangkok Bugle don't have to.
The things I do for you guys !

Do you know the name of the temple? That procession passed through the market I am in, too.-M

This was happening at Wat Bang Sakae Nai .. which is in a soi pretty much opposite The Mall in Tha Phra.

Ah...I walk past that temple every day. Sometimes they walk up that soi and onto the main road. -M

M - If you walk past the temple then you must also walk past my condo which is right next to it. ;-)
I think Wat Bang Sakae Nai is one of the prettiest temples I've seen. It's not big but it's pretty elaborate. I've not been inside - yet.

I was wrong. I went for a walk this morning. The temple I go past each day is Wat Sakae Nok...you live at Wat Sakae Nai.

I couldn't find a picture on the net, looking up the name in English or Thai, though I did find the website for your local school.

My Thai guy and I have a rough idea of where you are...behind the mall, looking from the entrance off Ratchadapisek Rd.

I walked behind the Mall the other night, though I went back in the other direction, towards Talad Phlu. Next time I will go further in, and see what I find.-M

From the roof of my condo, I can see the mall, an apartment block in white and orange, a school (presumably Wat Sakae Nai school), and a temple(presumably Wat Sakae Nai). All are close to one another. You must be in there, I think. -M

Let me know when you are on the roof and I will wave !
In all seriousness I think I will be to the right of the temple as you are viewing things. Only about 50 metres from the top of the temple.
