MEDIA GROUPS PLANS FOR THAI MAGAZINES

Both The Bangkok Post and The Nation are reporting plans by PR Express, a Thai-based company which is financially backed by an unnamed Dubai media group, to acquire magazines in the Kingdom.
A.P. Nikhil, the company's executive director, is quoted as saying he's in discussions to buy a number of local magazines, having already purchased Folio and Chic Men's in recent times.
Although this might seem like a crazy move when much of the print media is struggling to survive it does make business sense if you have the money. Publishers will probably be keen to cash in on under performing titles, and PR Express aims to add value through online activities. And having potentially ten titles in your portfolio means you can negotiate better deals with printers and distributors, as well as combining editorial and production functions.
