DISCRIMINATION

Everywhere you look in Thailand there is discrimination in one form or another. I have spoken before about the jobs ad that request 'Thai female, 20-25 years-old', but that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Recently I have heard about a leading property developer that has a policy of not selling apartments to Indian people because of their 'body odour'. And this is a publically-listed Stock Exchange company. Personally I have been told twice, when about to use a cash machine, "Sorry Mister, this machine for Thai only". Losing face is a big thing in Thailand and on both occasions that happened in buckets when I pulled out the ATM card of that particular bank!
Foreigners also have to pay more to enter some of the temples and also the national parks, and you can guarantee the price for the thing I am about to buy will be cheaper when Tanya asks.
Amazing Thailand!
