THE MILLION BAHT DINNER

One place I will not be this weekend is the State Tower, arguably Bangkok's poshest, most luxurious and expensive hotel and residence. This weekend that have a dinner event where the price for a seat at the table is one million baht. (Around 15,000 quid). I will add it's a charity event so you don't get totally the wrong impression, but to put things in perspective it would take me months to earn enough to be at this event, and it takes most of our staff four or five months to earn what I earn in one month. It's totally obscene for Bangkok.
The hotel is bringing together some of the world's top Michelin-starred chefs, and they will be using ingredients from around the world. Personally, I'll stick to my 20 baht (30p) chicken massaman and rice - just as tasty and more 'real world'.
