A THEORY ABOUT EMAIL ADDRESSES

Adrian Seal, the editor of The Uxbridge Gazette and the guy who have me my first job in journalism, covered an interesting theory about email addresses in his own blog recently. (http://blog.uxbridgegazette.co.uk)
Generally speaking, he and his fellow editors have found that job candidates with email addresses such as sparklepops@ ... or sweetlove72@... tend not to create the best impression or be suited to jobs in journalism and the media. This afternoon's candidates have underlined that theory, with sweetlove72@... being distinctly average and lacking direction, ambition and determination. The saying 'away with the fairies' came to mind but that's probably being a bit too critical.
Needless to say I will be taking a closer than normal look at candidates email addresses from now on.

Interesting thoughts about email adresses - I have often thought that these reveal far more than you might think about a person - I am sure there is a research project just waiting to happen.
