SIZE DOESN'T MATTER

On Friday both The Bangkok Post and The Nation, the only two English language daily newspapers in Thailand, emerged in a slightly smaller format. These are competitors, so for them both to adopt the same new size on the same day seems quite a coincidence.
The new size is pretty close to a 'Berliner' format that is used by The Guardian in the UK. It's bigger than a tabloid but more compact that a standard broadsheet.
My guess is that one of the papers planned the switch a while ago and the other heard what was planned and tried to copy them. That wouldn't surprise me because there don't appear to be too many secrets in the media industry here.
