THE CHEAPEST WAY TO TRAVEL

Without doubt the cheapest way to travel around Bangkok is by bus. There are different types of bus and the one pictured here is the smallest and cheapest.
Although there's probably no more than 30 seats you can often see them crammed with three or four times that number of people. And the price - just 7 baht (11p in UK money) for the entire trip. Unlike elsewhere you pay the same whether you travel one stop or to the final destination.
I've been on buses myself but not on these ones. I prefer the relative luxury of the fan or air-con buses which cost a few baht more.

The small green buses are, as you said, the cheapest, but at the same time, they cause many traffic accidents. As the bus drivers think that they need to prove that size doesn't matter, they race the bigger and faster orange buses whenever they get the chance! Of course, there are exceptions too...

Those green buses are not designed for foreigners... or tall Thais. They're pretty uncomfortable.
