A TRAGIC STORY

Last week two Bangkok policemen were shot dead whilst chasing two people who were alleged to have stolen money from a taxi driver. Although that's bad in itself, what made this story worse that the wife of one of those killed gave birth to his baby daughter the very next day.
This kind of story would be in the media for weeks in the UK (and other parts of the world too I suspect) and I guess there would also be appeals set up to help the family. Here it made front page news for day and has now disappeared.
In the original story it was said that the family of each officer would get 170,000 baht (2,750 UK pounds) in 'assistance money' from the city police foundation. I doubt they'll get much more.
Tragic is a word that is used far too often but I think it does sum of this story perfectly.
