YOU REALLY NEVER KNOW ...

.. what to expect in my job. On Friday one of my colleagues showed me a copy of our daily newspaper with two identical page 20s and no pages 8 or 9. Naturally I raised this with the editor, who showed me a copy of the same edition that was perfect.
How can this happen? Well for one this problem happened at our printers. My guess is they spotted their error of double-printing some pages and managed to rectify the problem. If they'd done that without allowing the bad copies into the system that's fine, and we would never have known. But the fact we got one of the bad copies begs the question how many bad copies made it into the distribution system?
I have a meeting with the printing company this week and I intend to find out.
