NOT THE NATION

If you fancy a bit of a laugh and know a little about Thai culture, current affairs and the media then check out www.notthenation.com. It's a satirical copy of The Nation - one of Thailand's two English language newspapers. Someone has gone to a lot of time and effort to create this site, but to be honest I am not sure how long it will stay up. It's not breaking any laws as far as I know (other than using The Nation's logo) but I fear it's a bit too close to the line of what might be deemed acceptable. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Hilarious. It would be a sad day for Thailand if something as funny as that site wasn't allowed. We need to be able to laugh about all this stuff.

I love the idea... I had a similar one - to onionize (onion dot com) Thailand. I've been too cautious - afraid to take that step. This one looks good. I read some articles. They're funny. The guy is semi-protected behind "domainsbyproxy" a company that will take heat for you and provide a buffer from people wanting to find out who you are. If Thai govt wanted to find out who it was I'm sure they could get a response. Hope it lasts though, I like this humor... Maybe I'd offer to write something sometime, I'm sarcastic as hell when I want to be...

Thanks for the heads up. I originally heard from Steve Suphan at Thailand Voice network, but apparently it will be making the rounds on the blogs shortly. Vern
