TALES FROM THE SKY

My first Qantas experience last week was nothing memorable, except for the three-hour delay leaving Bangkok. I was dozing when we started to taxi - down to a combination of sleeping pills and antihistamine - and after what seemed like ages we came to a stop. Assuming we were lined up on the runway I opened my eyes and was somewhat surprised to see what had arrived back at the terminal. The pilot explained there was a problem with the air-conditioning and it would take about 45 minutes to fix. It actually only took about 30 minutes but we were still a good two-and-a-half hours late arriving into Heathrow.
The flight back was problem-free and we actually touched down 15 minutes ahead of schedule. The only criticism on this flight was a lack of a window seat despite checking in close to four hours early. Both flights were 100 per cent full.
