BLOGS THAT COME AND GO
It's a fact of life that some blogs just die. In recent weeks two of my Thailand linked blogs - Nan & Rune and Klong of Consciousness - have ended.
In the case of the former Rune says: "Unfortunately right now, I am a bit tired of the whole blogging thing. It used to be quite simple to find stuff to write about, and when I sat down by the computer, the words just kept flowing. But lately it has become a chore." Klong of Consciousness is different. The author says: "Ok, so I admit it, this site has been - among other things - a feeble attempt to make some cash. However, after about three months and a surprising number of hits, I can still count the ad revenue with my left hand. I’m too busy with work and other horrors from the real world right now to keep writing, so for the time being I am giving up."
People have different reasons and motivations for blogging but for me it has always been for fun. I have never sought to make money, and indeed have not made anything so far from close to 900 posts in 23 months. I certainly haven't struggled to find things to write, although sometimes I have been hampered by time.
Why do you blog and what do you hope to achieve?

Hi Andrew,
I'd add that in addition to money, the reason I started a blog was to fulfil my 'urge' to be creative. However, as I'm sure most writers have experienced, these urges tend to come and go in a way that doesn't fit so well with having to update a blog regularly. It's a frustrating fact that I write best when I am a bit depressed - when my life is otherwise happy and busy I just don't have the urge or the time to write. Maybe I'm attaching too much meaning to what is, after all, just words.
Hope you keep up your own blog. Cheers! :)
Thanks for your comments, and I hope you didn't mind me mentioning your blog. There was an article on one of the U.S. sites I read about the number of dead blogs and I thought it was apt to relate it to you and Rune's blog - both of which I read and linked to.
I've never had the problem with writing - my only problem is to try and keep my ramblings short. I guess that comes from my background as a journalist.
Having said that I understand that writing doesn't come easy for many people, just as I am hopeless when it comes to other things in life.
But words are powerful and they do have meaning. I hope your urges come back one day and you find something to write about, although I'm not saying I want you to be despressed. ;-)
Take care !
Hi Andrew,
Long time no 'see'. I hope I won't become one of those 'come and go' blogs that you've mentioned.
Although sometimes I feel that it's my obligation to update my blog regularly so that I can keep my readers and friends coming back, my blog is still going to be the platform for me to archive the incidents in my life.
By the way, I'll be in Thailand tomorrow but I'm feeling a little under the weather so I'll give you a call if I'm feeling better and see if we can meet up this time. :)
Happy Songkran!
