COMPETITION IN THE SKY

It's amazing the number of times I find nuggets of information buried deep in stories in both The Bangkok Post and The Nation. Last weekend for example there was a story about plane orders for Thai Airways, and towards the end of the piece there was a statement which said that Thai's first Airbus A380s which are due to be delivered in 2010 will be used on the Bangkok-London route.
Last month Emirates said it would be launch its own A380's on the Dubai-London route on December 1 this year, and Dubai-Sydney-Auckland early in 2009. Emirates flys via both Bangkok and Singapore to Australia and New Zealand so I assume it will be possible to fly from Bangkok to London all the way on an A380 by this time next year, and certainly by 2010 when Thai gets its planes.
