FREE WI-FI, IT'S TRUE
Bangkok's Metropolitan Authority (BMA) has partnered with True Corporation and unveiled plans to offer free wi-fi Internet access throughout the capital as part of its 'Green Bangkok' campaign. Half a million access cards will be distributed to the public and BMA governor Apirak Kosayodhin said the goals of the programme are to save energy, reduce expenses, and enhance convenience for online access to knowledge and information anytime and anywhere, thanks to 15,000 hotspots.
I have two of these cards already; one of my reporters was given some yesterday. Access will be a through a mind-numbing 64k connection so I can't really believe the vast majority of people will opt to use this free service as opposed to faster connections elsewhere. Still, anything free has to be good but neither my home or office as within range of a hotspot at the moment.
