THE SKYROCKETING USE OF SKYROCKETING

Every now and again a word comes along that really irritates me. 'Boutique' and 'trendy' are prior examples, and right now it's 'skyrocketing' that's becoming increasingly annoying.
There are at least five examples in today's Bangkok Post alone, most relating to the increasing costs of fuel and food. Someone needs to give the suc editor a thesaurus.
What words that often appear in the news annoy you?

Time to retire "skyrocketing". It is henceforth banned.

My pet peeve is "world class", used in stories to indicate some sort of fake prestige.

Blockbuster, when describing hit movies, is overused too.
