STATE OF EMERGENCY: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

So what does the State of Emergency that has been announced actually mean?
According to a number of sources the decree prohibits gatherings of more than five people and also prohibits the dissemination of news that instigates fear or affects national security and peace. Bangkokians are still allowed to go to work because the decree exempts the section that prohibits people from leaving their homes. A total of 436 Bangkok schools will also close for three days, according to The Nation.
Unsurprisingly the news of the State of Emergency is now making headlines around the world.

UPDATE: British citizens in Bangkok, or those with plans to travel here, are being asked to monitor media reports and the British Embassy website.

to me, sat here in England, it all seems scary. I cannot imagine living under a state of emergency. Just hope it sorts itself out.
