WORLD POKES FUN AT THAILAND

I was watching global television news coverage of the Constitutional Court's decision to oust Samak on Tuesday evening, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for Thailand. Most of the reports were coming close to ridiculing the country for the fact it took a cooking show to force the Prime Minister from office. It's certainly another case of 'only in Thailand'.
The Guardian newspaper in the UK had the Samak story (and picture) on its front page yesterday with the headline: "Ready, steady .. quit! Pork leg in Coca Cola does for Thai PM". Ready, Steady, Cook is a popular television cooking show in the UK, and the report says that pork leg in Coca Cola was one of the dishes Samak created during one of his two now infamous shows. In similar fashion to the television reports the newspaper report pokes fun at the fact that mass protests and strikes couldn't force Samak from office. In the end it was a simple television cooking show that did the damage.
