PM'S GLOBAL PR OFFENSIVE
Thailand's Prime Minister Abhisit Vejajiva has given an amazing number of 'exclusive' interviews to the foreign press during the past couple of weeks.
CNN, Forbes Asia, The Straits Times, Far Eastern Economic Review, Channel News Asia, The Financial Times and The Associated Press have all enjoyed significant face time in what each organisation brands as an 'exclusive' interview.
Abhisit is also the face of a new commercial airing on CNBC and other global news channels promoting Thailand as the the destination for meetings and conference events in the region. He's also been invited to attend April's G-20 meeting in London by British PM Gordon Brown.
No one can argue that Abhisit isn't trying to create a good impression of Thailand to the outside world.

And what's your impression Andrew?
Does the PM's PR offensive change the way the new Thailand is seen by the international community.
Or is the shock about what recently happened and was officially sanctioned/tolerated still too deep?
That's a good question Dan and I think one that neither of us, living in Thailand, can answer.
So to readers outside Thailand ... have you seen any of the recent interviews and advertising that is aimed as restoring the Kingdom's image? How has your view of Thailand changed in the last month?
From my perspective, the press presents the PM as someone on borrowed time. Because he made so many compromises to get the Dems back into the hot seat, he's circled by sharks waiting for one wrong move.
"Lame Duck" comes to mind, but unlike an outgoing leader, he actually has the chance to change that perception. The question, of course is if he is able.
