RECORD MONTH FOR THE BANGKOK BUGLE

The Bangkok Bugle celebrates its third birthday this week and continues to attract growing numbers of visitors from around the world.
Last month was a record month. Unique visitors were up 110 per cent on the previous month, and page views also saw a 95 per cent increase as the world searched for information about events in Bangkok and Thailand. The top five most-read posts were all written during April 2009.
Did other Thailand-based bloggers also see similar increased activity last month? I'd be really interested to hear.

I did not!

:D

Congrats on your traffic surge. Keep up the good work!

Congrats on the birthday, I really enjoy this blog!

Yes there was an increase in search traffic.

From the search terms, I gather people were looking for more information and alternative viewpoints (with the increasing tendency of mass media to be one dimensional). My blog is new, but I can readily imagine an established blog like yours would attract a fair number of those visits.

The more we have the likes of Fox news catering to people who only want to hear their opinions validated, the greater will be the demand for bloggers writing objectively or expressing reasoned opinions.

Thanks Lana, Grahame and Opers for your comments.

Opers - I found that people were looking for information about what exactly was happening on the streets of Bangkok while the State of Emergency was in place. The blog entry I wrote looking at the front page coverage of Bangkok from around the world was also popular - which is nice because it took a bit of time to compile.

I'm over in Scotland for a few months, and missing my adopted home of Bangkok. Your blog is a refreshing source of information and links connected to the media world over there. Thanks for doing such a good job.

Ron, thank you so much for taking the time to comment. Your kind words are much appreciated.

You'll be pleased to know that Bangkok this morning (Tuesday) is overcast, grey and wet. If it wasn't for the heat it would feel just like an Autumn morning in the UK.

Take care .. and keep in touch.
