MORE MISLEADING NEWS ABOUT THAILAND
The top two stories on Singapore's Channel News Asia on Thursday morning were about Thailand.
Leading the morning news was coverage of the (at that time) planned Red Shirt demonstration that was expected to ".. bring central Bangkok to a standstill". The second story was about Thai Airways' plans to sue the leaders of the Yellow Shirts for compensation for the airport blockades in December 2008.
Thailand is still getting a lot of negative publicity outside the kingdom linked to the current and past political instability - some of it plainly incorrect. I doubt anyone in central Bangkok yesterday was even aware of the Red Shirt gathering.

Well, CNA was partly right. The traffic around Siam Paragon was horrible ... as usual.
whilst press freedom and other draconian issues are as prevalent as current in Thailand it's just a little stupid to attempt criticism of international media
I think your headline is more misleading than CNA's report. Many thousands of red shirts, plus 1,500 riot police, gathered in Royal Plaza. As Bangkok is a city without a real centre, the Democracy Monument could be regarded as pretty central. I am sure that traffic was brought to a standstill in that area.
The real issue is why the rally was largely ignored by the Bangkok Post and the Nation, but everyone knows they are firmly in the yellow camp.
Jaidee. Respectfully I disagree with you. Anyone watching CNA's report on Thursday morning would have been under the impression that Red Shirt protests were going to bring the centre of the city to a standstill. Those were the words used. Anyone planning a trip would have been seriously concerned.
I accept there are issues with the Thai media, but I will continue to draw attention to incorrect reporting about Thailand that I witness in the overseas media.
