POST REPORTS THB 83 MN PROFIT

Post Publishing Public Company Limited, the publishers of The Bangkok Post and other publications, reported a THB 83.2 million profit for the year ending December 31, 2010. This compared to a loss of THB 97.93 million during the previous 12 months.

In a statement to the Stock Exchange of Thailand last night, Post noted a 12.72 per cent rise in sales and service income. The notification also said: "Advertising sales came back strongly following the very weak April and May, while publication sales decreased slightly."

Several days earlier Nation Multimedia Group, the publishers of The Nation, also reported a substantial financial turnaround.

The Bangkok Post, in its own news report about its performance, has said display advertising for the Bangkok Post, the country's largest English language paper, jumped 21 per cent in 2010, while advertising sales for the Thai language Post Today rose 33 per cent.
