NOT SO HOT MAIL

One thing that came as a surprise when I first arrived in Thailand is the prolific use of free email accounts by 'professional' businesses. Take my own company for example - until I arrived I think most people were using their own Hotmail or Yahoo account to communicate with the outside world. Call me old-fashioned but I don't consider that to be very professional, and that's not to mention the 'security' implications or the consequences if that member of staff leaves and takes their account with them.
I have now adopted a 'Best Practise' for my company where any dealings with the outside world are made using a company email account, but it still amazes me to see recruitment advertisements in some of the national papers for large, well known companies that still use Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo and the like.
