SO QUIET ...

I ventured out for a short walk just now to see what is happening. The journalist in me wants to find a tank or, at the very least a solider but I didn't find anything. What I did find was LOTS of taxi and tuk-tuk drivers touting for business, and a bakery shop that was selling its stock for a 50 per cent discount.
I guess there's only about five or ten per cent of the normal amount of people and traffic on the streets around my office, and quite a sizeable proportion are tourists trying to get to grips with what is actually happening.
My Japanese colleague, on the somewhat bizarre advice from her embassy, has gone home. Apparently all Japanese citizens are being told to stay at home and not venture out at all. In my opinion that's a massive over-reaction and isn't reflective of what's actually happening on the streets.
Amazing Thailand!
