ALL NIPPON ALL THE WAY

When my secretary first said I would be flying to New York in All Nippon Airways (ANA) I must admit to feelings of apprehension, but after the experience of the past week I can honestly say they come close to being my favourite airline. That position is currently held by Emirates, whom I am flying back with to the UK at the end of November.
I have to say the food on ANA was wonderful and came in pretty large portions too. The food on the way out was so flavoursome, but coming back I was slight disappointed by the selection of just an Asian stir-fry or creamy Salmon. That said, it was really good.
The leg from Bangkok to Tokyo in both direction was flown by a new Boeing 767-300ER plane - very spacious and roomy. The 13-hour sector from Tokyo to JFK in New York was flown by a slightly older and more cramped feeling Boeing 777-300. On the way out I had one of the seats with more leg room, although this meant the arm rest was fixed meaning it was virtually impossible to get any comfortable sleep. Still, I did get extra leg room !
The flight attendents were great too - always smiling and delivering lots of water and snacks throughout the flight. All four flights I took were more than 90 per cent full so I guess they must be doing something right.
I'll probably be going back to New York in the not-too distant future and I wouldn't have any problems flying with ANA again.
