THE CITY STATE
Singapore at night from my hotel room. Although not as hot as Bangkok, the city yesterday was certainly more humid, so much though that a short stroll along to Orchard Road left me literally dripping with sweat.
The hotel is nice and is located close to the famous Raffles. I've not had a Singapore Sling yet, although I must admit to being slightly tempted last night.
Singapore is far more cosmopolitan, clean and less congested than Bangkok. It's better in other ways too, like the shopping and the fact that not everyone seems to be out to get as much money as they can from you, which is often the case with traders in Thailand. Singaporean do seem to be genuinely interested, and I've had great chats with the drivers of the three taxis I have used so far.
It's not all good though. Singapore is expensive compared to Bangkok. Even so, and even though this is my first night in the city I think I will be back for pleasure and leisure pretty soon.
