SINGAPORE SUMMARY

I am back at my desk in Bangkok this morning, wading through the avalanche of emails and other things I need to catch up on. On top of that I have three interviews (that I know about) this morning and a meeting with our prospective editor-in-chief this afternoon.
Singapore was good, and although it was a business trip I did see a bit more of the city this time. In a nutshell, I like it. I was thinking of ways to describe it, and the word clinical came to mind. It's efficient, clean, well-planned and almost too clean. It has got oodles of character and charm - far more so than Bangkok because Thailand has never been colonised wheras Singapore was.
With any luck I'll be attending an exhibition there in November of this year and that will give me a bit more time to explore and shop! That said, anyone that knows me will understand that I cannot go anywhere without finding a bookshop. In between my meetings I did manage to spend an hour browsing (and buying) in the only Borders bookshop in South East Asia.
Heaven!
