PROMISING INTERVIEWS
I interviewed eight journalists yesterday for the roles of reporter and deputy editor for the new magazine. Of those, three stood out as being potentially very good and capable of perhaps being suitable for the more senior role of deputy editor.
Finding good journalists is tough, and I'm thinking about writing a press release explaining the problems we are having finding 'world class' Thai journalists. I've had brief email chat with The Dean of the Faculty of Journalism at one of Bangkok's top universities and I am hoping he will back me up on this with some good comments.
I'm always looking for ways to turn a problem into an advantage, and by emphasising the high standards required we will also promote the magazine at the same time. It's a fine line though because I do not want to alienate all Thai journalists by saying they are not good enough.
