FIRE AT MBK

There has been a fire this afternoon at the MBK shopping centre in the heart of central Bangkok. Anyone who's visited the capital will know that is a huge mall, if somewhat crowded and claustrophobic at times. We're regular visitors there, but with Tanya working and me at a meeting we were a few miles away this afternoon.
The reports are that the fire began as a result of an electrical problem in a Japanese restaurant on the seventh floor of the eight storey complex. There were no injuries, thankfully given Saturday afternoon is probably the busiest time of the week, and the centre was evacuated and closed for the remainder of the afternoon.
