MORE MANGOSTEENS

Yesterday's blog about the falling price of mangosteens prompted two emails asking the simple question 'why are prices falling?'. That's a basic question that should have been answered in the original story which appeared in The Bangkok Post. It didn't say why.
I've conducted my own research .. well, okay, I have asked Tanya .. and the simple reason appears to be an oversupply in the market. This year has apparently been a good year for mangosteen production so, quite simply, there is too much fruit chasing too few buyers.
