ELECTRONICS - NOT AS CHEAP AS YOU THINK

If you're coming to Bangkok expecting to pick up some cheap electronics or camera gear then you'll be in for disappointment.
I'm speaking from my own personal experience relating to photography equipment. I was looking at buying a lens (a Sigma 10-20mm for anyone that's interested) but the price here is very similar to that being offered online by Jessops in the UK. This particular lens only comes with a Thailand warranty - which is fine for me but would be a hassle for anyone thinking of taking it back to their home country.
Savings on other electronic equipment is also minimal, plus you have the added hassle of most equipment coming with the standard two-pin Thai electrical plug.
It's true that many things are cheaper in this part of the world, but electronics and camera equipment certainly isn't one sector where you can make huge savings.
