FIRST JOURNALISTS; FIRST RESIGNATION

Yesterday was a day of highs and lows. I finally got the okay from New York regarding the editor and deputy editor positions for the new magazine - and that in turn also meant I could finalise the rest of the editorial team.
Yesterday also marked the first resignation from my team. One of my translators, who has only been with us for little over a month, came to me yesterday evening to tell me she would be quitting and the end of this month. She's a very capable, educated and friendly person and she's leaving to work with her family restaurant business. I'll be sorry to see her go, but it tells you a lot about Thai culture, and the fact they put family above everything else.
