BREAKING NEWS, BUT AT ANY COST?
The Bangkok Post is arguably the leading English language newspaper in Thailand. Its website, where the following article is taken, is pretty good too but this morning they published a story that obviously hadn't been proofed before being published.

At least 13 people were injured, two critically, when a bus hit a pole on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road in Bangkok on Wednesday morning. Bus no.52, routing between Pakkred-Bangsue, was overpassing a car with high speed when one of its wheels ran over road curb, causing it to loose balance, a witness said. The bus then bang into a pole. The bus driver was among the critically injured victims. The accident caused heavy traffic on the road. The wounded people were rushed to Vibhavadi hospital.

Okay so it's not the worst I have seen but it highlights just how a reputation for excellence can take a hammering with poorly written or unchecked stories. It also underlines the fine line between being first with the news whilst still maintaining a degree of quality.
