LIFE IS PERFECT (WELL, ALMOST)

The amount of Waitrose food being imported by the Central Group seems to be increasing by the week. First is was fish fingers and apple pies, and now life is almost complete because I found some Marks & Spencers Custard Creams this morning.
Thailand does have its own version of these biscuits but they're a pale imitation of their UK cousins. I know it seems extravagant at 105 baht per packet (about 1.50 in UK money) but they're worth it. I got three packets.

Back when I lived in Bangkok, more years ago than I care to remember, I used to snap up packs of Marks & Spencers Jam Sandwich Creams. Central used to have a Marks & Spencers shop that was quite the sensation when it opened. Dunno if they still have the like. It's funny what things become "must have's." When they were regularly available I didn't think of them much, but when they became a rarity, well...Cheese, for instance...a good salami...Oreo cookies...never really bought them when in my own country, but seeing them on a shelf in Bangkok or Chiang Mai, they I suddenly have to buy them...savor their taste...and long for them when I can't have them. We are notional beasts, are we not?
