TAXI TALK

There are two distinct types of taxi drivers in Bangkok. First you have the ones that seem somewhat intimidated by having a farang (foreigner) in their cab, and then there are the ones that are eager to talk, ask questions and tell you all about their life.
Yesterday evening's driver fell into the latter category. He was a rice farmer from a province north of Bangkok who drives taxis when the harvest is over. He had an artificial left leg (although you wouldn't have known from his driving style) and has had 11 operations.
Perhaps it was an elaborate story to get an extra trip. If it was, it worked.
