OVER THE TOP OR A MASTER AT WORK?

Does anyone else think Thaksin's ground-kissing return to Thailand yesterday was a little over the top?
I've said before that I believe he is a PR genius and he obviously waited until he was in full view of the world's press before kneeling and kissing the ground. There's no doubt he wanted to show the world how much Thailand means to him, just as much as he wanted to show this to the Thai people.
He brought a couple of Manchester City players with him and today they're attending the opening of a soccer school. With the current frenzy you can be sure the Thai media at least will be at that event - exactly what he wants.

I thought it was hilarious. He said that he wanted to "come home quietly" and then he turned up with his kids and Peter Shcmeichel's son and kissed the ground in full view of every photographer in Bangkok. Cheeky beggar.

This guy is very clever when it comes to PR. Alastair Campbell would be so proud of him.
I personally felt that scenes of wellwishers crying were completely out of place, but no one should underestimate how much popularity this guy has here.
