THE FLAME ON THAI SOIL

The Olympic torch relay touched down in Bangkok early on Friday morning. According to reports it isl be staying, guarded by its Chinese security, at Plaza Athenee Hotel before it's appearance again tomorrow in a run through the streets.
The Thai government is saying that foreigners who protest are liable to lose their rights to stay in Thailand and have their visa revoked (kicked out in other words). Under Thai law that's what can happen for anyone found guilty of breaking laws.
One report says the route has been cordoned off to prevent possible disruption from protesters. Surely that also means ordinary people will not be able to see it too?

I'd like to take this moment to welcome China to the world of Public Opinion. It's not so easy out beyond the gates of the Hidden City, is it?
