MY BIG INTERVIEW

One of the reasons I was in the Middle East last week was to interview Dr. Thaksin Shinawatra. He was a keynote speaker on day two of the BusinessWeek Middle-East Asia Leadership Forum.
I've been trying to get an interview with him for the magazine that I am responsible for, for a few months but the timing has never been right. Everything finally came together at 10.30am last Wednesday morning. I, along with BW's Hong Kong bureau chief, spent twenty minutes chatting to Thaksin about a variety of business-related topics. I personally found him to be polite, approachable, friendly and human!
I can't tell you what he said, you'll have to get hold of a copy of the May edition of the magazine (in Thai) available in all good bookshops from 7th May.

Hello,

will you be making this available on your blog, and in English, for overseas readers? If you do, will it be a few days after the 7th?

Thanks.

Thanks for your question.
Actually it's a good question because I do not hold the copyright for this story even though I wrote it - either in Thai or English. To print it here would be a breach of copyright and I would have to ask myself (as managing editor) for permission to reproduce it. ;-)
It will appear in Thai on businessweek.co.th at some point and as soon as it does I will think about how we might best use an English translation.
Interesting point though .. thanks.

Andrew,

I'll be blunt, there are a lot of people in England who might like to read it...

I am under no illusions about Frank, but, I am one in a growing minority who are waking up to the fact that in the Sven saga, all is not as black or white as it is being portrayed...and in this case, it would appear that so far Frank is actually being out-spun and out-maneuvered by Mr.Butter-wouldn't-melt-in-his-mouth.

The interview itself was for BusinessWeek Thailand and, as such, revolved mainly around business and Thailand. Yes, I did ask him a bit about Manchester City although that wasn't really the focus of the published interview.
Perhaps I can write a separate story just on what he said about Manchester City but, to be honest, it only took up about three minutes of the twenty minute interview.
Drop me an email; I'd like to chat more with you about this.
