ADVERTISING REVENUE IN THAILAND
Nielsen Media Research's latest report makes interesting reading for Thai publishers. Advertising revenue in April was up 4% on the same period last year to 7.6 billion baht. Strangely perhaps newspapers recorded a 5% increase (to 1.2 billion baht) while magazines showed a 13.2% decline to 426 million baht during that same period.
Quite why newspapers should show a rise at the same time magazines are falling is interesting to say the least. When you take into account the huge number of magazines here it's easy to see why publishers must find other ways to generate income away from the printed product.
