THAI MEDIA AGAINST THE PM

Following yesterday's collective denouncement of Thailand Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej by the Thai Journalists Association, the war of words has escalated today with Samak saying he will no longer be hosting his weekly press briefing at Government House.
Samak seems content to be at war with the Thai media who criticised his intimidating and "rude" style when dealing with reporters. The Thai PM has a popular weekly chat show and has said he doesn't care if the Thai media will not report his activities.
My opinion is that Samak is far from media savvy. He says what he thinks, sometimes without thought for the possible ramifications. But that's his style. I think if you ask relevant, fully researched questions you will get decent answers from any government official. And so long as journalists can justify anything they write they have no problems. It's when they put their own spin on events and claim it to be news that problems arise. And that happens quite a lot in the Thai media.
