JOBS FOR ENGLISH JOURNALISTS IN BANGKOK

I'm aware of at least three companies that are looking for native English experienced journalists here in Bangkok at the moment. I'm not offering any kind of endorsement but if you're a journalist/writer and looking for a challenge then drop me an email (at the address top right) and I'll point you in the right direction. These are full-time positions based in offices in Bangkok.

Do you know what kind of salaries they are offering?

For full-time positions I assuming they'll be at least 30,000 baht per month to meet the work permit salary requirements. I know of one editor role that is offering 50,000 baht per month. Not high by Western standards but decent enough here.

Hmmm.. that's not decent enough at all!! No wonder the English-language media here is so poor. I believe the saying is 'pay peanuts, get monkeys'.

Decent in the sense that it's about three or four times what a Thai would get paid, and decent in that it would allow you to enjoy a reasonably good standard of living in Bangkok.
But you will never get an experienced and fully-trained journalist from the UK (for example) to come here just for the money.
