IT'S ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU CRINGE
An intro from a story on The Nation's website:
"A rich couple offered to adopt a baby girl found abandoned on Monday at a porridge shop in Bangkok's Bueng Kum district. The baby is around 10 days old and looks lovely. "
Perhaps this is just a case of a poorly translated English story from a Thai original, but surely the emphasis is all wrong? I was always taught to explain the most important aspect of any story in the opening sentences, so using that rule it would seem the most important things here is that the couple wanting to adopt is rich, and that the abandoned baby looks "lovely"?

Talk about connections...The "rich couple" is related to the police officer in charge of the case. But yeah, I see your point. Nothing like a little sensationalism.
So sad. There are so many unadopted ugly babies. We must step up to the plate and give poor little mingers a good home.
I think at one time I was an ugly unadopted baby too.
