FINANCIAL CRISIS BOOSTS BUSINESS MEDIA SALES
One upside to the global economic crisis is the increasing interest in the business media, especially newspapers.
During September The Financial Times showed a 30 per cent sales increase in the U.S. from the previous month, and a 20 per cent increase in both Europe and Asia. Visitors to the associated website FT.com doubled. The Wall Street Journal also recorded similar increases - reporting a 20 per cent increase in newsstand sales last month.
In Thailand it's impossible to know whether any of the locally-produced newspapers and magazines have seen similar sales spikes. I hope my own magazine will show good sales for the current October edition, however it takes so long to get accurate sales figures that it will likely be early next year before I know.
