IN THE SPOTLIGHT AND ON THE BRINK

The events in Bangkok were still commanding significant front page headlines around the world on Thursday, and even after the events in Mumbai there are still mentions around the world of the ongoing events in the Thai capital.
As of Friday evening it seems Bangkok is on the verge of yet another brink. Armed police have reportedly blocked the road to Suvarnabhumi and have given anti Government protesters at Don Muang an ultimatum to leave. Something looks certain to happen, it's just a question of when and what.

For those outside Thailand it needs to be pointed out that no passengers are left stranded at either airport. They are most likely at hotels in central Bangkok if they have not already got out by alternative means. Suvarnabhumi is about 20 miles from the centre of the city, Don Muang is slightly less.
