BRIEFLY SPEAKING

I understand The Brief, the magazine for members of The British Chamber of Commerce, is shifting its production from monthly to a bi-monthly schedule.
Veritas Graphics won the contract to produce the member magazine several years ago, but several sources familiar with the situation tell me that revenues have fallen short of expectations, hence the need for a renegotiation of the contract with the British Chamber.

That's because it's the most boring magazine ever.

I'll defend it by saying that there have been some good stories in recent issues, but it's certainly a niche membership-based magazine that's never going to have mass appeal.

I used to get a clutch of chamber mags each month. The Brief is probably the the best produced but dull, dull, dull. Even the design is boring.

And here is the official announcement:

A larger version of the BCCT's magazine The Brief will now be published on a bi-monthly basis. The bi-monthly edition will include more topical business articles and analysis along with an increased coverage of the broad array of BCCT events.

Accompanying a boost in editorial content, the bi-monthly magazine will carry extra advertisements, offering further opportunities for companies to promote their business to the magazine's readership. The Brief will continue to enjoy the largest circulation of any chamber magazine in Bangkok.

Any BCCT members or businesses seeking to promote their business via The Brief may contact The Brief's publisher - Jim Fowler at Veritas Graphics on 081-844-7015 or Jim@VeritasGraphics.com.

Editorial suggestions or enquires can be sent to The Brief's editor, James Burke, at jamesburke@veritasgraphics.com

With the change to a bi-monthly magazine a new 'request for proposals' (RFP) to publish The Brief will be issued to BCCT member publishers. All BCCT member publishers have been asked to provide feedback and input on what should be in the new RFP. Members are also invited to provide ideas and suggestions to - greg@bccthai.com.
