AN UNUSUAL SIGHTING AT CHATUCHAK
The beauty of the magazine stalls at Bangkok's Chatuchak Weekend Market is that you never know what you will find.
Last week I wrote about the Philippine edition of Forbes that cropped up for sale there - and that's a publication you will not find on sale anywhere else in Thailand.
This week - not so much of a magazine - more of a sports programme featuring the Australian Football League finals match late last month between Freemantle and Hawthorn. Again - there's zero chance of this being for sale anywhere else in Thailand - but for THB 30 it's an absolute bargain compared with the AUD$10 cover price.
As I've written numerous times, these are magazines that find their way to the market courtesy of the airline cleaners at Bangkok's airports - and I'm certainly not complaining that it's happening. Why pay THB 300 for a copy of The Economist from a traditional magazine shop when you can buy the current edition for a tenth of the price here.
